Former President Donald Trump extended his thanks to El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele after footage emerged showing hundreds of suspected criminal migrants being deported from the U.S. to El Salvador. Trump applauded Bukele’s strong cooperation and pointed to the rarely-invoked Alien Enemies Act of 1798 as the legal basis for the move. He also took aim at Democratic leaders, accusing them of enabling such situations. Among the 261 deportees were 137 individuals removed under the Alien Enemies Act, 101 Venezuelan nationals, and 21 alleged MS-13 gang members.
