In an instant, Andy’s life was taken. Julie, severely injured, was rushed to receive life-saving care. But in the chaos, no one realized that little Landon was unconscious in the backseat.
It wasn’t until rescuers spotted a small child’s shoe that they realized there was another life they hadn’t accounted for. Landon wasn’t breathing. He wasn’t moving.
With no time to lose, EMTs immediately began working to revive him. After what felt like an eternity, Landon’s tiny chest finally rose with a breath. They rushed him to the hospital, unsure of what to expect next.
Landon’s journey through death wasn’t over yet.
There would be two more encounters with death — each one more terrifying than the last. But against all odds, each time, Landon was brought back. The doctors, however, remained certain: after suffering such severe head trauma, the boy had no chance of survival.
“They told me if he survived, he would be like an 8-year-old baby,” Julie Kemp recalled, her voice breaking as she spoke to CBN.
But what happened next defied all logic.
After two weeks in a coma, a miracle unfolded. Against all odds, Landon’s eyes fluttered open. To everyone’s astonishment, he could see perfectly. The medical staff, who had long prepared for the worst, were left in shock.
As Landon regained consciousness, Julie knew she had to tell him the devastating news: his father had died in the crash. She braced herself for the heart-wrenching moment. When she gently asked Landon about his father, his response left her speechless.
With a calmness beyond his years, Landon replied, “Yes, I know where he’s at…” and then, in a whisper that would forever echo in her heart, he added, “I saw him in heaven.”
Julie’s tears flowed freely, overwhelmed by the words of her son who had experienced death and returned with a message she would never forget.
